WIP — Quan Chen

Some projects arrive through briefs. Others appear slowly through conversations, side quests, obsessive references, or saying yes slightly too quickly. WIP is a collection of personal work across fashion, interiors, furniture, and production experiments that somehow escaped becoming hobbies.

i opened a furniture shop and secretly lived in it for three months.
i furnished a £2.5m house in belsize park.
i designed a metal bookshelf inside a victorian fireplace.

with taylor meade, i wanted to make the retail space into
a living room so people can imagine living there

how does your home work around you
in different settings?

I wanted to shoot furniture like fashion and show products in a daily setting

designed the retail space and shop front,
also had fun drilling into the ceiling to install the curtains
showing off my climbing skills

this is the fireplace shelf I designed, having picked up the fireplace on the street a few years ago. that’s my hand in the corner

my project was on how to reimagine museums, including one of my own ideas: the museum of hurt, where people deposit their sentimental items along with their stories

i won the Roundhouse Accelerator 2021

overcoming the fear of public speaking

i think renovation would be my non AI job
during this time, I crammed a lot of CAD,
and drew on walls a lot to communicate with builders

i like the fabric from the overground

so i designed a top and commissioned a fashion designer friend to make it.
it’s named the TUBE TOP

I found this lamp in a Czech village,
I had to email them in Czech,
I went to language classes for 2 weeks

how can small brands stand out on social media?
through colour of course
